The Long Arm Of The Deadbeat Dad Law
     A man police say is a deadbeat dad wanted for 13 years got arrested in Rhode Island and brought back to Massachusetts, police said. Back in 1998 Massachusetts State Po­lice issued a warrant for the man’s arrest for failure to pay court-ordered child sup­port to a girlfriend who lived in Norfolk at the time, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

No Cops, Please
     The victim of an apparent attack at his home by three men told police he didn’t want to press charges because the men were trying to collect a drug debt from him, police said. A woman called police about 6:18 p.m. Sunday, January 15 saying that three men had run into a home on Maple Street and punched her boyfriend, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

It’s A Long Way To Tegucigalpa, It’s A Long Way To Go
     A 39-year-old man who presented po­lice a Guatemalan driver’s license when stopped told police he has been living in the United States for two years even though he has a driving record in Massachusetts go­ing back to 1993, police said.

Daughter Arrested For Breaking Into Family Home
     A 21-year-old woman who has been kicked out of her home was arrested for breaking into it, police said. Police got the call at 1:41 p.m. Mon­day, January 16 from a home in south cen­tral Norfolk near Union Street and North Street.

Car Break-In Nets Thief Two GPS Units
     A thief broke into two vehicles at a home on Freedom Trail in Pondville and made off with a global positioning system unit from each vehicle, police said. The theft was reported at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, January 14. The owner of the vehicles told police the break-ins must have occurred sometime between 5 and 11 p.m. that evening, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Pats Fan Gets PC’d After Playoff Victory
     A 17-year-old Wrentham boy who got liquored up during or before the New England Patriots playoff game against the Denver Broncos hid from police but ended up getting taken into protective custody, police said.

Rabies Scare Over Fox
     A fox acting strangely led a Maple Street resident to call police out of concern the animal had rabies, police said. Police got the call at 9:57 a.m. Thurs­day, January 12. The resident initially thought the ani­mal was a coyote, but Norfolk animal con­trol officer Hilary Cohen determined it was a fox.

I Bought What?
     A Noon Hill Estates man checking his credit card account online noticed a charge of $382.88 he didn’t make, police said. The 41-year-old man called police at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 about the payment to a California company, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

That Wasn’t The Amount We Agreed On
     A Norfolk business owner who wrote a check for $37.69 was disturbed to find on his bank statement a check with the same number for $3,200.69, police said. The check with the higher figure ap­pears to have been made up, forged, and deposited into a Bank of America automat­ed teller machine in Norwood, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Septic Truck Breaks Railroad Crossing Gate
     A septic truck hit and broke a railroad crossing gate on Rockwood Road at about 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, police said. The driver told police he was blinded by the sun and didn’t see the gate come down, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Car Skids Off Park Street
     Snowy conditions led to a one-car ac­cident on Park Street, police said. An 18-year-old Franklin woman skid­ded off the road at Park Street while trying to go right onto Lawrence Street at about 11:26 p.m. Monday, January 16, said Nor­folk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll. The woman wasn’t hurt, but her blue 2001 Saab sustained minor damage, Car­roll said.

Car Skids Into Tree
     A 29-year-old Walpole man driving through snow and ice couldn’t negotiate a sharp turn on Fruit Street and crashed into a tree, police said. The one-car crash occurred at about 11:41 p.m. Monday, January 16. The man wasn’t injured, but his black 2008 Chevrolet Silverado sustained front- end damage, said Norfolk Police Lieuten­ant Jon Carroll.

Town To Overspend Snow And Ice Budget, Again
     Even though it has been an extraordi­narily mild winter so far, Norfolk selectmen have authorized the town’s public works director to spend more than the amount appropriated for snow and ice removal. Selectmen voted to authorize deficit spending the $125,000 line item on Tues­day, January 17.

Norfolk Officials To Attend Casino Meeting In Holliston
     Some Norfolk town officials are plan­ning to attend a meeting in Holliston this coming week about casinos. Milford is one of the possible sites for a casino, and many residents in next-door Holliston are opposing it.
