Explosion Brought Tremendous Response

Friday, July 30th of 2010, our community, The Village at River’s Edge in Norfolk, was rocked by a tragedy that deeply impacted us all. Sadly there were injuries to several workers and 2 firemen. Two homes were lost. We mourn the loss of William S. Nichols, also working on the site at the time of the explosion. Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. Nichols and we most sincerely wish the injured a full and speedy recovery.

This event was indeed tragic and we are all deeply saddened. As a community, we felt that it was appropriate and necessary to thank all of the emergency responders who helped at this very sad event. Many community members were witness to the explosion and subsequent prompt response from the Fire, Police, and Emergency vehicles from 19 communities. We saw that the entire event was handled with exceptional professionalism, promptness, and sensitivity. The response was a well-coordinated and courageous effort on the part of all who arrived to perform their duties so well.

On behalf of the residents of The Village at River’s Edge, those that lost their homes, and for the injured and for the family of Mr. Nichols, we extend our most heartfelt thanks and admiration for a job exceedingly well done by all the emergency responders. It is comforting and heartwarming, even in this difficult time, to know so many caring and dedicated people serve their communities and citizens in such an exemplary manner.

We sincerely thank all that responded from the towns of Norfolk, Franklin, Bellingham, Medway, Millis, Medfield, Sherborn, Dover, Plainville, Wrentham, Norwood, Walpole, Mansfield,Foxboro, Stoughton, Taunton, Attleboro, Sharon, and Westwood. If we missed anyone, please accept our sincere apologies. Our best wishes to all those suffering a loss on July 30th, and our thoughts and prayers are now and will be with you for a long time to come.

Very sincerely,

Alan Glasser [on behalf of the residents of

The Village at River’s Edge]
