Man Charged With Trying To Kill Wife

Police have charged an Arnold Road man with attempted murder in connection with a domestic violence incident, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Police got a 911 call from a woman on Arnold Road at 7:35 p.m. July 4.

The 34-year-old woman told police that her husband, 41, was choking her, and that when she tried to get her three children out of the house he began choking her again.

Police say the man was intoxicated when they arrived, and that the woman had visible marks and contusions on her chest and neck.

Officer James Gallagher arrested the man.

Based on evidence of strangulation, police charged the man with attempted murder and assault and battery.

At the police station, the man was uncooperative during booking and later struggled while being placed in a cell, Carroll said. He complained of a medical problem, so he was brought to Norwood Hospital for treatment and then brought back to the Norfolk police station.
