Override Looking Like A Red-Headed Step Child
      If success has a thousand fathers, the forthcoming $1,067,157 Proposition 2 ½ override vote appears to be heading for an orphanage. The Norfolk School Committee voted 3-1 with one abstention this week to recommend the override to voters.

No K-6 Special Education Director Next School Year
      Incoming interim superintendent Claire Jackson plans not to replace special education director Carol Riccardi-Gahan, whose contract the School Committee decided earlier this year not to renew. Gahan has gotten support from parents and teachers at School Committee meetings in recent weeks, but her time in Norfolk appears to be over.

Bushnell A Finalist To Become Brewster Fire Chief
      Norfolk Fire Chief Coleman Bushnell is one of six finalists to become fire chief in Brewster on Cape Cod. The Brewster Board of Selectmen is scheduled to interview Bushnell on Thursday, June 24.

Conservation Commission Has Opening
      Selectmen are seeking candidates for the town’s Conservation Commission. Selectmen this past Monday night reappointed Ellen Friedman to a three-year term. But David Lutes is leaving the commission when his appointment expires June 30 because of work commitments.
