Sixth Grade Graduation at Freeman-Centennial School
Timothy Rigdon
Some 161 sixth-graders graduated from Freeman- Centennial School this past Thursday morning.
Students and teachers and parents and other relatives filled the gym at the school, as skies threatened outside.
While most of the ceremony was joyous, it included an emotional moment when Ernie and Kristen Savoie presented a new creativity award in honor of their daughter, Maddie, who died of cancer in October 2008. Maddie would have been graduating from sixth grade that day.
Freeman-Centennial School’s new principal, Lisa Altham-Hickey, acknowledged her predecessor, Lucia Godfrey, who attended the ceremony with two grandchildren. Godfrey retired in April.
