Richard H. Bagwell, 67
Richard “Dick” H. Bagwell, 67, of Hyannis died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 16, 1942 in Boston, son of the late Henry J. and Mary T. (Moriarty) Bagwell. He graduated from King Philip Regionl High School in Wrentham in 1960.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston in 1966.
Mr. Bagwell lived in Norfolk before moving to Attleboro in 1977, where he lived until moving to Hyannis in 2002.
As an accountant, Mr. Bagwell and his wife were the owners and operators of A.B.C. — Attleboro Business Center in downtown Attleboro, since 1981. Previously, Mr. Bagwell worked in the financial services industry.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as a wonderful, humorous man who was often the life of any gathering and would often accessorize with hats, scarves, and any other item that would get a laugh.
He treasured time spent traveling with family and friends, with a particular love for Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Mr. Bagwell was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Boston Bruins, and he was a fair-weather fan of the Boston Celtics.
Mr. Bagwell was a member of numerous professional and business organizations, including
the former Attleboro Area Chamber of Commerce (now the United Regional Chamber of Commerce) and the former Downtown Attleboro Associates (known as the D.A.A.). He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1014 in Attleboro. Mr. Bagwell was proud of his Irish ancestry. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Mitton) Bagwell, whom he married on August 23, 1969.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, he leaves a sister, Mary Ellen Weidman of Franklin; six nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; several extended family members, friends, and colleagues. He was the brother of the late Pat Bagwell.
A wake and prayer service were held Friday, May 28 at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home in North Attleborough. Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, Mass. 02760 to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and/or the American Diabetes Association and/or the Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod.
