Children’s Book Award (MCBA)! For the third year running, Mrs. Lavallee, Freeman Centennial school librarian, administered the MCBA program in the school library. The MCBA program was created at Salem State College and established to keep children in the intermediate grades interested in reading books. The activity is voluntary and above and beyond classroom reading assignments. Students must read or have heard read aloud, at least 5 books from the MCBA book list to be eligible to vote for their favorite book.
A celebratory MCBA breakfast was held in the school library for all student voters. The breakfast was made possible
thanks to donations from Dunkin Donuts of Norfolk, Wrentham and Plainville. Students
received certificates and entered a raffle for copies of the winning book: Found,
by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
