Local Group Participates In MS Walk For 10th Straight Year This year a group organized by a Norfolk resident will mark the 10th anniversary of its participation in Walk MS, the national fundraising event sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Proceeds of the walks staged all over the country in April fund programs and research focused on finding a cure for multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system that effects over 400,000 Americans. Stephen Zrike, his wife Sara and their five children participated in the Walk for the first time in 2000, shortly after Zrike was diagnosed with the disease, which has severe and unpredictable symptoms including fatigue, paralysis and blindness. Last year over 40 friends and family joined Team Zrike and helped raise over $9,000 for the Society. They plan to raise $10,000 prior to this year’s event which will be staged in Boston on April 11 as well as many other venues throughout the region this month. “The outpouring of support and affection is so humbling,” said Zrike. “So many great strides have already been achieved,” he said. “I know that if we keep up our efforts, a cure will be found.” Those interested in joining Team Zrike or donating this year should contact: Stephen K.
