The Brabants Family of Norfolk announced this week that the Edmund J. Brabants Memorial Foundation is accepting applications for scholarship(s) to be awarded this Spring.

Current high school seniors attending King Philip Regional High School carrying a minimum

3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year, anticipating the completion of their high school diploma at the time of application and planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post secondary institution are eligible to apply. Applications are due March 30, 2010 and are available at www.ejbmemorialfund.com and through the school’s Guidance Department.

The Edmund J. Brabants Memorial Fund was established in May of 2008 in memory of Bud Brabants. Bud, a former President of Walpole Country Club, is remembered for taking charge, mobilizing forces and getting things done.

In recognition of the importance of this leadership role, supporters hope to build on Bud’s legacy of leadership by providing scholarships to educate and support tomorrow’s leaders. The family has created an eight-member board to organize the annual golf tournament, the charity’s most significantfundraising activity, as well as review and award scholarships. The Board will consider need, academic performance and leadership ability as important

criteria when awarding scholarships.

Selected recipients will receive annual grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for college tuition. The second annual Edmund J. “Bud” Brabants Memorial Golf Tournament presented by PEC (Professional Electrical Contractors) will be played at Walpole Country Club in Walpole on Monday, May 10. Proceeds of the tournament benefit the Edmund J. Brabants Memorial Fund, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing educational scholarships to high school seniors that demonstrate need and leadership beyond the classroom.

The Memorial Fund, through this annual tournament ensures that Bud’s spirit will endure and continue to enrich the lives of many. For more information go to www.ejbmemorialfund.com. Memorial donations are tax deductible and can be made to: The Edmund J. Brabants Memorial Fund c/o TD BANKNORTH 127 South Street Wrentham, MA 02093.
