Reception at Norfolk Library Will Honor Several Local Women On Monday March 15 at 7 p.m. the Norfolk Public Library will host a reception to honor some of Norfolk’s women whose contributions helped to shape the town’s history.Their stories have been videotaped and a book is being made to preserve this important part of Norfolk’s past. March is National Women’s History month, and the 2010 theme is “Writing Women Back into History.” Norfolk has many outstanding women, and through the work of Chris Cleverdon, Betty Lehan, and Bonnie Dittrich a snapshot of Norfolk’s history, as seen through the memories of these special women has been recorded for future generations. Priscilla Chick, Helen Cleary, Nancy Connors, Vida Holmes, Georgia Jones, Jackie Kuphal, Brenda Lukens, Norma Shruhan, and Pauline Valente, all of whom have helped form the community’s history in their own special way, will be honored at this event. They will be giving an oral history of their life experiences of living in the town. This presentation is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. Please join us to pay tribute to these interesting and accomplished women. Also, the interviews of the women have been recorded by Norfolk Community TV to create six episodes.
