An Events Calendar for Norfolk
Editor’s Note: Norfolk Public Library is at 139 Main Street in Norfolk Center. All places and addresses below that do not specify a municipality are in the town of Norfolk.

Friday, March 5 6 to 10 p.m. All King Philip Regional High School students are invited to Movie Night for a double fea­ture in the high school cafete­ria. Up, a Disney-Pixar com­edy adventure, is scheduled to be shown at 6 p.m., to be followed at 7:45 p.m. by Star Trek, a 2009 science fiction ac­tion

movie starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Students are invited to attend either or both movies. Pizza, popcorn, and beverages are to be served. Tickets are $1 (to offset food costs), and must be purchased in advance. Students can pur­chase

tickets during lunch blocks in the high school caf­eteria on Tuesdays and Thurs­days between Monday, Febru­ary 1 and Friday, March 5. The event is sponsored by King Philip Parents’ Network. King Philip Regional High School is at 201 Franklin Street (Route 140) in Wrentham.

Saturday, March 6 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of Coastal Mountain Railroad are planning to return to Norfolk Public Library with a large-scare model railroad, complete with sound.

Friday, March 12

7 p.m. The Federated Church of Nor­folk plans to show Harry Pot­ter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009; rated PG) for its month­ly

movie night. Admission is $5 and includes bottomless drinks and popcorn. The church is at 1 Union Street in Norfolk Cen­ter. Space is limited, so to re­serve a spot call the church of­fice at 508-528-0262 or send an email message to mail@fcon.org.

6:30 p.m. The BeSmart Wellness Coali­tion is planning to present an Underage Substance Abuse Prevention Community Forum at King Philip Regional High School to promote awareness, networking opportunities, and prevention strategies that par­ents can use with their fami­lies. Presenters include Pam Carrison, president of BeSmart Wellness Coalition; King Philip BeSmart Club student lead­ers; William Keating, Norfolk County District Attorney; Rob Wargo, King Philip assistant principal and Wellness Com­mittee chairman; Jeremy War­dle of Learning Bug Education; Bill Phillips of New Beginnings Programs; and students and parents of students in recov­ery. The high school is at 201 Franklin Street (Route 140) in Wrentham.

Tuesday, April 13 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The primary election for the vacant Norfolk, Bristol, and Middlesex state Senate district is scheduled to take place at H. Olive Day School at 232 Main Street in Norfolk. The election is to fillthe vacancy left by for­mer state senator Scott Brown’s resignation to become a United States senator. The district in­cludes the town of Norfolk, as well as Wrentham, Plainville, Millis, Sherborn, Needham, North Attleborough, and por­tions of Franklin, Wellesley, Natick, and Attleboro.

Friday, April 23 6 to 9 p.m. The Friends of the Norfolk Public Library plans to hold its annual book sale during the fourth weekend in April. The book sale takes place at the Norfolk Department of Public Works garage at 33 Medway Branch Road. Only members of the Friends group are allowed into the Friday night book sale, and then the book sale open to the general public is sched­uled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat­urday, April 24. Tuesday, May 11 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Norfolk’s annual town election is scheduled to take place at H. Olive Day School at 232 Main Street in Norfolk. The date is a week later than usual. The general election for the vacant Norfolk, Bristol, and Middle­sex state Senate district is also scheduled to take place at the same time.

Tuesday, May 18 Norfolk Annual Town Meet­ing is scheduled to take begin at King Philip Middle School at 18 King Street in Norfolk. The date is a week later than usual.
