MOODY’S MEGA MATH CHALLENGE

Moody’s Mega Math Challenge is a high school math competition that spotlights applied mathematics as a powerful problem-solving tool, as a viable and exciting profession, and as a vital contributor to advances in an increasingly technical society.

Open to juniors and seniors attending schools from Maine to Florida, the M3 Challenge is entirely internet based.

This year the King Philip Regional High School math coach, Mrs. Debra Barrett, is sponsoring

a bright and energetic team. The team members are Rachel Osborn (11), Jennifer Taylor (11), and Nicole Witter (11). On Sunday, March 7, 2010, the team will have fourteen hours (7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.) to solve an open-ended, realistic, applied math-modeling problem focused on a real-world issue. Panels of Ph.D.-level applied mathematicians serve as judges. Wish our students well on this challenge.

The Wrentham Elementary School shares our pride in her accomplishments as she was also a former student of theirs!

WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS? Film Showing Wednesday, March 24 @ 6:30 P.M. Norfolk Public Library

WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS? explores both performing and visual arts career fields. While the film is by and about women in art, the conversation is one that may be had by women and men. Anyone interested in a career in the arts would benefit from a real-world view of a life in art as pursued by the women depicted in the documentary. After the film, a discussion panel will answer questions. The panel features local artists, including Brittany Smith, a senior at King Philip Regional High School. This event is FREE!
