James Andreopoulos, 85

James Andreopoulos, 85, of Shrewsbury, died Friday, Feb­ruary 12, 2010 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in West­borough. He was born July 3, 1924 in Worcester, son of William and Ourania (Gliatis) Andreopou­los. He graduated from Classical High School in Worcester. Mr. Andreopoulos began his career at The Worcester Tele­gram & Gazette at the age of 17. He worked there for 48 years, retiring in 1989 as advertising production manager. He lived in Shrewsbury more than 50 years. He was a devoted golfer and a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton.

He leaves a brother, Arthur, and his wife Sally Andreopou­los, of Charlton; a nephew, Wil­liam Andreopoulos of Speonk, New York; four nieces: Cynthia Franck of Shoreham, New York, Nancy McCarthy of Norfolk, Stephanie Stark of West Boyl­ston, and Elizabeth Andreopou­los of Eastport, New York; and many grandnieces and grand­nephews. His sister, Jane Sher­bourne, died before him. A funeral service was held Monday, February 15 at Athy Memorial Home in Worces­ter. Burial at Hope Cemetery in Worcester was private.
