Christine M. (Atkinson) Fitzgerald, 46

Christine M. (Atkinson) Fitzgerald, 46, of Franklin died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston following a long illness.

She was born November 1, 1963 in Boston, daughter of Frank U. and Irene M. (Cronin) Atkinson of Franklin.

She lived in Stoughton for many years before moving to Franklin in 1992.

She was educated in Stough­ton schools, and she graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1982. She earned a bachelor’s degree in early child­hood education from Bridgewa­ter State College in 1986.

A homemaker, she was de­voted to her husband and daugh­ter. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a very active member of the PCC at Helen Keller Elementary School in Franklin. She enjoyed skiing, going to the beach, and organizing and hosting family functions and her home. She was the wife of Mark V. Fitzgerald. In addition to her husband of 17 years and her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Kelly M. Fitzgerald of Franklin; four brothers: Francis R. Atkinson of Wellesley, Joseph L. Atkinson of Wrentham, John R. Atkinson of Stoughton, and Stephen M. Atkinson of Norfolk; and two sisters: Marie T. Kelleher of Franklin and Irene M. Atkinson of Stoughton. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home in Franklin. A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, February 18 at St. Jude Church in Norfolk. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cem­etery in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory sent to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, Mass. 02145 would be appreciated.
