Police: Driver In King Street Collision Was Drunk A 56-year-old Norfolk man caused a head-on collision on King Street last week because he was driving on the wrong side of the road, police said. The man blew a .16 blood alcohol content on the Breathalyzer, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll. That’s about twice the legal limit for driving. The collision was at relatively slow speed, because the man was turning onto King Street from Union Street and the other driver was slowing down on King Street while approaching the stop sign with the intersection at Union Street, Carroll said. The other driver, a 64-year-old Wrentham woman, was taken to Norwood Hosptial with non-life-threatening injuries, Carroll said. Her blue 2002 Kia sustained damageon the driver’s side and the front end, and both air bags deployed, Carroll said. The man’s gray 2007 Toyota Camry also sustained serious damage. The man was not injured in the crash. Police have charged him with operating under the influence of liquor and operating to endanger, and he was cited for failure to drive on the right lane side of the road. The collision occurred at about 2:27 p.m. Thursday, February 11. |
