How To Reach The Norfolk Boomerang

The best way to reach us is to send an email message to NorfolkBoomerang@gmail.com. If email is impossible, you can send us a letter through U.S. mail to The Norfolk Boomerang, P.O. Box 620, Norfolk, Massachusetts 02056; or call us at 781-899-3436. We invite readers to contribute material to the newspaper. Below is a thumbnail sketch of how to do so.

Events Listings Events listings appear every week in our calendar department known as Happenings. Send them by email. Please put the word “Calendar” somewhere in the subject line of the email message, which helps us findit. The deadline for sending a Happenings item is 8 p.m. Friday the week before you would like the event notice to appear in the newspaper.

Press Releases Press releases may be sent by email. Please put the word “Press Release” somewhere in the subject line of the email message, which helps us findit. The ordinary

deadline for press releases is 5 p.m. Saturday before the week that you hope the information will appear in the newspaper. No press releases on any topic are guaranteed to run in the newspaper. But press releases concerning Norfolk residents and Norfolk events get our attention, and we will try to get appropriate information into the newspaper as soon as possible. If you are hoping to get information into the newspaper both as a press release and as a calendar item appearing in our regular department called Happenings, please send two email messages with the information — one with the word “Press Release” in the subject line and one with the word “Calendar” in the subject line.

Photos Photos of Norfolk people, Norfolk events, Norfolk landscapes, or anything else related to Norfolk may be sent as jpeg attachments to an email message. Please include the first name and last name of every identifiable person in the picture, where the photo was taken, the date the photo was taken, and who took the photo, along with any appropriate information

describing the significance and circumstances of the picture. Please include the word “Photo” or the word “Photos” in the subject line of the email message.

Letters to the Editor The Norfolk Boomerang welcomes letters to the editor. Send them by email, with the word “Letter” in the subject line. Letters commenting on news stories and opinion articles appearing in the newspaper get highest priority, but all submissions are welcome for consideration. Letter writers should include their name, home address, email address, and telephone number. We ordinarily run in the newspaper the first name and last name of the letter writer and the street where the letter writer lives. (We don’t run telephone numbers or email addresses unless the author explicitly

requests us to do so and we agree with that request.) Please make it clear that the letter is meant to be published and please make clear any parts of any communication that aren’t meant to appear in the newspaper. Letters may be edited.

Guest Columns The Norfolk Boomerang welcomes submissions of opinion articles as guest columns. Columns by Norfolk

residents and columns on Norfolk topics get highest priority. We reserve the write to edit any submissions, including guest columns. On matters of opinion, we welcome varying points of view. For consideration, send guest columns by email.

Births For birth announcements for the newest Norfolk residents (or for relatives of Norfolk residents), send text and photos (if you wish) by email.

Deaths Obituaries and death notices for Norfolk residents and people with Norfolk ties may be sent by email.

Missing Pets If you have a missing pet, you are welcome to send us a short description and a photo, by email. We’ll run the information and picture if space permits.

Deadlines If you miss a deadline, you can still send us material in hopes we get to it. But please keep in mind the deadlines aren’t fake — there’s a reason for each one of them — and the further we get into the week, the less attention we can give to any particular submission.

If You Think We’re Wrong The Norfolk Boomerang tries to be accurate and fair. If you think we’ve committed an error of fact, please let us know, and we will try to correct the record if warranted. Email is best. If you disagree with an opinion or analysis presented in the newspaper by our staff, by someone quoted in a news story, or by a letter writer or guest columnist, please consider sending a letter to the editor or guest column.
