A hit-and-run accident may be responsible for a water main break this past Tuesday that disrupted water service to about 20 homes on Boardman Street and to Freeman-Centennial School, the town’s public works director said. The water main broke at about 11:09 a.m. Tuesday, and water service wasn’t restored until after 6 p.m., according to town officials. More...

The town of Norfolk turns 140 on Tuesday, February 23, the date the Massachusetts Legislature incorpo­rated the town. The Norfolk Historical Commission is sponsoring an event next week to provide information about the forma­tion of the town. Selectmen are considering asking Town Meeting to implement a local-option meals tax on restaurants in Norfolk, which would bring the total tax up to 7 percent. The tax would bring in an estimated $60,000 a year to the cash-strapped town government. Norfolk Lions Youth Soccer is now accepting registrations for the Spring 2010 Season. Registration will be online only. Norfolk Lions Youth Soccer is open to boys and girls age 3 years (by September 1, 2009) through 12th grade. MGL C140 §137 requires all dogs six (6) months of age or older, be li­censed annually. The Town of Norfolk General Bylaw requires this process to be completed no later than March 1 each year. Richard Edmund Desjarlais, a longtime Littleton died Tues­day evening, February 16, 2010 at Leominster Hospital in Leom­inster. He was 84 years old. He was born April 1, 1925.
