Religion In Norfolk Editor’s Note: Norfolk has three churches and a fourth church congregation that uses the town’s library. Wednesday, February 17 is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Christian penitential season. While it is not a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics, it’s one of the most-attended days at Catholic churches, as Catholics receive ashes on their foreheads in the sign of a cross to remind them that “dust thou art, to dust thou shalt return.” St. Jude’s is planning to have Masses on Ash Wednesday at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., as well as a service with ashes at 3:30 p.m.. As with many churches in the Archdiocese of Boston, St. Jude’s is planning to offer confessions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays during Lent, part of the archdiocese’s “The Light is On For You” program. The regular confession schedule of 4 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays also continues. Also at St. Jude’s: on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. Deacon David Ghioni leads a holy hour including exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the rosary, and a benediction.A new Women’s Bible Study group is planned at St. Jude’s on the topic “Balanced Living,” including how to manage the busyness of everyday life with the help of God’s Word in Scripture. The group is scheduled to meet for eight weeks on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the crying room of the church beginning Wednesday, February 24. To reserve a study book, call group facilitator Karen D’Angelo at 508-520-4058 by Wednesday, February 17.
