Zullo Resigning From Norfolk School Committee

Marie Zullo announced late this week that she plans to resign from the Norfolk School Committee after the annual town election in May. Zullo, who was elected to the committee in May 2008, is in the second of a three-year term.

She has been near the center of recent conflictover a plan to have Norfolk’s elementary school system share a superintendent with the King Philip regional school system and over Norfolk Superintendent Don LeClerc’s recent decision to retire a year early. Zullo has been a supporter of exploring the shared-superintendent plan, and she sharply criticized LeClerc’s recent performance as superintendent during a School Committee meeting this past Wednesday night.

The Norfolk School Committee oversees the town’s kindergarten-through-sixth-grade school system.

Town Clerk Gail Bernardo confirmed Friday shortly before the deadline of The Norfolk Boomerang that Zullo has announced her resignation. Zullo could not immediately be reached for comment.
