Publisher for a Day

As we wrap up what is by my count the 240th issue of The Norfolk Boomerang, I am filled with gratitude to our subscribers and ad­vertisers. I won’t kid you: The move to the web is a little disconcerting. I wanted to start a news­paper, not a web site. But as I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the costs of putting out a newspa­per are killing us at a time when ad revenue for newspapers everywhere is withering. The web site cuts our costs dramatically and allows us to keep bringing you the news and events of lovely little Norfolk.

I wasn’t sure how people would take it, but the response so far has been encouraging and understanding. Subscriptions are coming in at a good clip — but keep ‘em coming! We need you now at least as much as we needed you when started in September 2005.
