The Friends of the Norfolk Public Library are pleased to announce two upcoming events. On February 2, National Book Award-winning author Nathaniel Philbrick will be at the King Philip Middle School to discuss “In the Heart of the Sea” as part of the Norfolk Reads program.

Also, on January 31, chantey singers and storytellers from Mystic Seaport will share stories and songs of seagoing life.

Free tickets to both programs are available at the library, and full details can be found online at http://library.virtualnorfolk.org/public_documents/readtogether.

Best-known for their annual book sale (www.norfolkbooksale.com), the Friends of the Library fund various library programs, including

museum passes, adult and children’s programs, the DVD collection, the bestseller rental collection, technology upgrades, and other items not covered by the library budget. Please help us continue to fund these programs by joining the Friends of the Library this year! Look for the Friends membership form in the mail, or pick one up at the circulation desk at the library, and return it to your membership sticker, which entitles you to admission to the Friday Night Friends-Only Book Sale on April 23. All members will also receive tickets to the Friends annual raffle, the details of which will be announced shortly.
