Elizabeth Williams Wins First Place in Norfolk Lions’ Contest

This past week, the Norfolk Lions Club honored the winners of the first round of the regional Lions speech contest, which is con­ducted each year in conjunction with the King Philip Regional High School English Department. The theme of this year’s speeches was “Is the United States a Truly Free Country?” The winner of the this round was Elizabeth Williams of Norfolk, pictured above with Norfolk Lions Club President Frank Zolli. The runner-up was Norfolk resident Brett Ewer. Williams receieved a check for $100 as the first prize, and Ewer received a check for $50 as second prize. In making the presentation, Zolli said, “Lions are proud to support the work of our educational system, and we are especially happy to salute the achievements of young people who set an ex­ample for all of in the community.” Williams is also the President of the KPHS Leos Club, which has 250 students, and is the largest Leo service organization in the region. It is supported by the Lions Clubs in Norfolk, Plain­ville and Wrentham.
