Stony Brook Announces Its January Programming
Stony Brook is very much alive in the winter. Join us for these programs:
Turtle Trekkers: Saturday, January 16th, from 10:30-12:00pm. Start your weekend off right with a fun and knowledgeable Stony Brook teacher on the trails learning about nature. There will be crafts, activities and lots of laughter. So come and join the fun. This month’s theme: Are You Sleeping? Ages 2.9 to 6 with a parent.
Fee: $10m/$12nm per child
What’s the Buzz about Bees: Sunday, January 10th, from 2:00-3:30pm. Join Tony Lulek, President of the Norfolk County Beekeepers’ Association, for an informative talk on beekeeping. Tony will share some of his extensive knowledge about these fascinating insects, as well as give an overview of the beekeeping school that his organization conducts.
Fee: $5 per person
Give A Hoot? Get Up Early! It’s Time to Search for Owls: Sunday, January 31st, from 5:30-7:30am. This is the time of the year when owls really begin to get vocal. Just prior to sunrise is the best time to hear and sometimes find owls. We are going to explore the sanctuary grounds in search of great horned, barred, and the eastern screech. After our search, we will head down to the boardwalk to watch the sunrise before returning to the nature center for a warm cup of hot chocolate.
Fee: $15m/$18nm per person
