Bridge Grant Still Alive
      The bridge to nowhere could be going somewhere if state officials approve the first part of a grant this fall. The town’s public works director, Remo “Butch” Vito, told selectmen last week that state officials may allow the town to divide into two parts a proposed bridge over the railroad tracks extending Boardman Street into the commuter rail parking lot.

Car Break-In on Kingsbury Road
      A resident on Kingsbury Road lost $30 and a pair of sunglasses to a thief who broke into the resident’s unlocked Ford Mustang this week, police said. The resident reported the break-in Sunday, July 20, saying the incident appears to have taken place overnight, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Police: Crash Victim Drunk
      A 43-year-old Franklin woman appeared to be operating under the influence of alcohol when her car hit a tree on the portion of Route 115 known as North Street earlier this week, police said. The woman lost consciousness after the crash and was taken to Norwood Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

That’s Some Diet
      A man stopped for an expired inspection sticker this week told a Norfolk police officer he was a man who actually weighs about 200 pounds more than he does, police said. The 28-year-old Randolph man appeared to be hiding something when Detective Nate Fletcher came up to the car, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

      A resident on Fleetwood Drive returned home from the weekend to find nothing stolen but plenty of evidence of a break-in, police said.

Furry Burglar
      A burglar alarm that went off at about 4:03 a.m. Friday, July 16 at a home on Stop River Road did indeed detect an intruder, police said. An investigation revealed that a squirrel had gotten inside the house and set the alarm off.

Hungry Burglar
      A woman who came home Thursday afternoon found evidence that someone had broken in and raided her refrigerator, police said.

Mountain Bike Stolen
      A Boardman Street resident lost a bicycle to a thief this week who broke into a shed to get it, police said. The resident reported the incident at 7:33 p.m. Thursday, July 22. The missing bicycle is a black Mongoose mountain bike with yellow and silver, said Norfolk Police Lieutenant Jon Carroll.

Too Hot To Handle
      As if the unusual heat earlier this month weren’t enough, a Lawrence Street resident was also bothered by some fireworks. The resident called police at 5:34 p.m. July 17 to say that it was too hot to be lighting fireworks off.
